Walter L. Foxworth, age 90, passed away February 19, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Walter was born June 5, 1929 in Doucette, Texas to Jesse Harvey and Rosa Alice (Durham) Foxworth. He married the love of his life, Mildred Philippus, June 10, 1950 in San Angelo, Texas. In 1952 Walter was drafted into the United States Marine Corps. After being honorably discharged in 1954, Walter and Mildred moved to Austin where he soon began working for the City of Austin. He retired from the City of Austin in 1988 as City Planner. Walter enjoyed gardening, playing his guitar and piano, reading and most importantly spending time with his family. Walter and Mildred were longtime members of Northwest Hills United Methodist Church.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Rosa Foxworth; his wife, Mildred Philippus Foxworth; two brothers and six sisters. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Wade Hall; granddaughters, Lindsay Hall and Stacey Hall; great granddaughters, Masyn and Ryenn Mullins; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Cook Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 pm Monday, February 24, 2020 at Northwest Hills United Methodist Church, 7050 Village Center, Austin, Texas 78731 with Rev. Audrey Spencer officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Cook Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Walter’s memory can be made to Northwest Hills United Methodist Church.
