

Duane graduated from Guymon, OK High School in 1956, then went on to the Army Reserves. Afterwards he attended Watch Repair School at Southwestern Oklahoma College in Weatherford, OK where he also served as the President of the Wesley Center (the Methodist Campus Ministry). He was a Watchmaker and Jeweler for 58 years. After he moved to Austin and opened his own Jewelry shop, he was member of the Capital Area Watchmakers and Clockmakers Guild of Texas. In 2011 he was presented with the Cecil E. Mulholland Award for his talent, Love of Horology & Years of Dedication to the Guild. He was a member of Hyde Park Baptist church, and the adult couples 5 Sunday school class for 34 years. Duane was a loving husband of 42 years, he and Judy lived in Austin, and then moved to Pflugerville.
Duane was preceded in death by his Father - Guy Frazier Bennett, Mother - Beulah Bernice Bennett, Step-mothers Ethel and Lillian, Sister - Jacquelyn (and Buster) Shouse, and Brother – Richard (and Gloria) Bennett. He is survived by his wife Judy Bennett, brother – Gordon Bennett, Son – David Singhiser, Son – Chris (and Tami) Bennett, Daughter – Erin (and Kevin) Duke, Stepson – Joe Holley, Stepdaughter – Paula Keels, and Stepdaughter – Jana Holley. Grandchildren – Jamie Holley, Sarah Hutchcraft, Keegan Keels, Callie (and Steven) Ju, Griffin Keels, Sawyer Keels, Zoe Keels, Noelle (and David) Navarro, Alex Bennett, Kaitlyn (and Stewart) White, Nephew – Bryon (and Janna) Bennett, Niece -- Deedra (and Spence) Schnaitter, Nephew – Cole (and Vickie) Goodwin, 7 great granddaughters, Peyton, Brooklynn, Hailey, Gabriella, Ashlynn, Zephyr, Sagan and was a father figure to countless neighborhood kids.
Duane loved spending time with his family and his friends. He loved to play Basketball and Golf and would never say no to a Friday game night. In addition, he maintained close relationships with many dear friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all the very special caregivers including Dr. Sheila Shung, Dr. Kuchik Shaw, Dr. Silvia Jaramillo, Dr. Todd Gage, our sweet niece and Nurse Practitioner Vickie Goodwin, as well as Donna Clement of Halcyon Home Health, and special thanks for the love and support from our church family.
Visitation will be held 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 15, 2021 at Hyde Park Baptist Church. With a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
