

Following his high school graduation, Wayne began his military career with the United States Air Force. He worked as an air reconnaissance photographer and an avionics technician, eventually retiring after 23 years of service as a Tech Sergeant on March 1, 1979 at Zweibrucken AFB, Germany. After his retirement from the Air Force, he began a career working in electronics at 3M. He retired from 3M in 2000. Wayne loved to travel all across the United States with his family, and especially enjoyed his trips to Colorado.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Laura. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Carmen Carnell of Round Rock; children, Wayne W. Carnell, III of Ohio, Phillip Carnell of North Carolina, Angela C. Wheeler of North Carolina, and Barbara A. Petry of Michigan; step-children, Gilbert Cisneros, Ruben Espinoza, Jr., and Rodney Espinoza, all of Austin, Mark Espinoza of Round Rock and Jeff Espinoza of Pflugerville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and eleven step-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation for family and friends on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Round Rock. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
