William proudly served his country for 23 years in the United States Army and retired as Master Sergeant. During this time, he served in Viet Nam and enjoyed the adventures of working alongside his troops.
After retiring from the Army, he remained in Austin, Texas and began working for the United States Post Office where he also retired. William was a caring and thoughtful man and enjoyed volunteering at St. David’s Hospital for 32 years.
William was a member of the Roger Hughes Lodge #624 in Austin, Texas, under the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Texas. He was a member of all the Masonic Houses and The Right Eminent Past Grand Commander for the Lone Star Grand Commandery of Knights Templars Masons Prince Hall Affiliate.
William was a loving father of three sons and one step-son.
William was married to his beloved wife Emma in 2012. At this time, he placed in his heart four daughters. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Edward and Vinita Alma Scott and three sisters Sally Scott, Kathy Simpson and Diane Turner.
William Clarence Scott departed this life on Friday March 24th, 2023. He was 80 years old! In his 80 years he was able to see alot of life events! He leaves to cherish his memories beloved wife Emma, three sons William Scott, Billy Scott and Benjamin Scott (Sharmone), step-son Sonny Sterling and four step-daughters Jacqueline Bradley-Washington (Eddie), Juanita Bradley, Jennifer Bradley, Jamella Bradley, two sisters Anna Buggs and Delores Turner, four brothers Joe Turner, Keith Simpson, Isaac Simpson, and Lover T. Joyce and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to thank Doctor Lamy, Doctor Pham, Sonder Hospice (RN Kelsey Janke and Lloyd Wilson), St David’s Hospital and all the medical staff. Your care and consideration helped us during this transition more than you could ever imagine! To our family and friends, words cannot describe the support we’ve received from all of you during this time for you are the Sisters & Brother’s in Christ we needed.
A visitation for William will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. A funeral service will occur Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. A graveside service will occur Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 1:00 p.m., at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, Texas 76542.
