Born in Red Rock, Texas, Bastrop County to Sam and Ruth Taylor. Pete graduated from Bastrop High School, attended University of Texas at Austin and served in the US Army before choosing a career in law enforcement. Pete joined the Austin Police Department in 1961 and retired in 1991. During this time, he advanced to Lieutenant and obtained his Bachelor’s degree from St. Edwards University.
He married Patricia Jean Boyko in 1961, and for 57 years, he was a caring and loving husband, and phenomenal father to Debbie and Laura Beth. His biggest joy was being “Papa” to his grandchildren Austin, Avery and Taylor.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Red, 3 sisters Sammie Ruth, Jean Callahan and JoNell Tucker, in-laws Bill and Adele Boyko and grandson Austin Taylor Woods.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Debbie, son-in-law Rosendo Sanchez and granddaughter Taylor, daughter Laura Beth Taylor-Woods, granddaughter Avery Taylor, sister Barbara Gilliam and Bill as well as several nieces and nephews.
For the past 2 years he has resided with his loving wife in Fort Worth, Texas.
He was in the care of Village at Silver Sage for over a year and for the past 2 months under the care of Encompass Hospice. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for Pete.
A Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, January 18, 2019 in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate Highway 35, Pflugerville, Texas, with interment to follow at Jeffrey Cemetery, 5544 FM 713, McMahan, Texas 78616, where military honors will be afforded.
