

Alan David Southey, age 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at his home in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born March 17, 1940, in Kankakee, IL, to Maurice and Dorinda (Dionne) Southey. Al worked as an x-ray specialist for the Apollo 11 moon landing at North American Rockwell in California. After moving to Arizona, he used the plumbing knowledge his uncle Lee taught him at a younger age, and sought employment as a plumber and county inspector. He later obtained his plumbing contractor’s license and began his business, Southey Plumbing, Inc., working in new construction until he retired in 2001. Al lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures with hobbies that included, woodworking, boating, skiing, both water and snow, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his three sons, Rick, Rob, and Ron with former wife, Bobbie, and four stepchildren with his wife, Brenda; Tonya, David, Rebecca, and Michael, brothers, Byron, David, and Gary with many beautiful grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family, friends and others whose lives Al touched are invited to his celebration of life at the church he attended, CalvaryPHX, 12612 N Black Canyon Hwy, Phoenix, AZ 85029 at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and of course, just chat.
