

Albert (Al) Pina III, age 63, unexpectedly passed on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at his home in Tampa, Florida. He is preceded in death by his father, Albert Pina II, and his brother, Alejandro (Alex) Pina. He is survived by his mother, Inez D. Pina; his children, daughter Erica and husband JR, daughter Emily, and son Albert; grandchildren Nicholas Albert, Aliday Cristina and Noah James; great-grandson Ro Michael; sister Raquel Richter; brothers Ronnie and Michael Pina; nephews Ronnie, Diego, Adrian, Kyle and Kody; niece Michelle.
Al honorably served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years and was a graduate of Arizona State University. Al began his community economic development career as Vice President of Development for the National Council of La Raza and was integral in launching the country’s first minority focused housing and commercial real estate CDFI. In 2005, he took his efforts to Florida where he would spend the next 17 years launching and leading multiple national minority economic civil rights organizations, including the Florida Minority Community Reinvestment Coalition (FMCRC), advocating for minority communities in Florida, as well as throughout the country.
Al will be deeply missed and his legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, family and all those he worked alongside, helped and inspired.
A visitation and celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, June 8 from 10am – 11a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m. at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85013.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting you make a donation in Al Pina’s name to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
