Andrew Edward Robert Joseph Rasch (Bob), born October 8, 1901, passed away peacefully amongst long time family friends on December 10, 2011. Andrew was a decorated veteran of WWI, WWII, and Korea, who through his love of country and service saved many lives. He served on the USS Oklahoma during WWI and his friends believe Sarge to have been the last WWI survivor. Orphaned at a very young age, and with little formal education his experiences shaped him into a man who gathered those in need under his wings. He gained great wisdom and brilliance throughout his life and experience which he shared while raising sixteen young men. He provided Christmas gifts to orphanages in Arizona, Nevada, and Utah for thirty years. He loved all animals but especially Lady and Giant who could sense his loving hands and trust their care to him. Andy touched the lives of many people with his quick wit, generosity, and trademark wry sense of humor all the way to the end. When you’d ask how he’s feeling he’d rub his fingers together. That was “our” Andy. Friends and Family are invited to attend his services at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. on Friday, December 16, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
