Anna Metzger was born in Franztal, Yugoslavia and raised there until age 9, when she and her family were forced to leave their home during the war, never to return. Her family moved to Germany, but work was scarce, so they settled in France where Anna worked as a nanny, went to sewing school, and as a personal aide to an elderly doctor. In 1956 her family immigrated to America where Anna was a resident of the Chicago area until 1970 when she moved to Arizona after falling in love with the state during a visit. Anna and her (ex) husband adopted their only daughter Joanne Jarman. She was a devoted mother, and a hard-working single mother from the time that Joanne was in middle school. She worked as a food service employee in the local school district for many years and loved her job. During her retirement years, Anna loved to spend time with her 6 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, she was a talented seamstress, and she spent countless hours in the service of those around her during her life, lending her time and talents. Those that were privileged to receive her baked goods as gifts during the holidays remember her talent as a baker. Her friends and family will remember her as a vibrant soul, who loved to tell a story. She is loved and will be missed by many.
