Dear Daphne, Brenda, Ronald, Douglas, and the rest of Anne's dear family.  It was my pleasure to spend Anne's last days with her.  She was such an amazing woman with amazing family.  She will be so missed by me and many others.  I spent a lot of time at my job taking around for walks ( or wheeling) her around and just keeping her entertained.  I learned a lot from her.  For instance, I learned that Douglas is a "rascal" (ha ha).  I learned how much she loved her children and whenever a child would around her, it would a huge to her face.  I also learned that she absolutely loved music and loved to dance.  We would often dance together to a good beat.  I always thought she would be clapping her hands to the beat and dancing in Heaven.  I called her my "Rock N Roll Anne"  I feel privileged to have known such a beautiful woman.  I loved and miss dearly (even though she sometimes called me a "donkey".

Dear Daphne, Brenda, Ronald and Douglas,

I, like Thrity, have such pleasant memories of Auntie Pinto.  

I got a fairly detailed update on her condition from Daphne when I saw Daphne and met her son too for the first time, during 2014 Christmas holidays. That was my most recent visit to Arizona. When I asked Daphne at that time about Auntie Pinto, Daphne said: (1) Auntie Pinto could recognize her still, (2) Aunty Pinto felt safe and comfortable with people around her, and (3) that she was well taken care for in that home. That was very reassuring and good to know.

All of you are devoted children. She was fortunate to have such wonderful children and their spouses to wrap her round with love. Thrity and I visited Arizona together some years ago because we specially wanted to see Auntie Pinto. That was a very special visit for both of us. I am really glad we made that visit for we spent over a week with her. It was really good to talk with her. She would remind me before going to bed to make sure all the doors opening to the back yard was safe and that I locked it before I turned of the lights in the living room. She did not fully recognize both of us but then from time to time she would talk about our parents to us. It is understandable, for it was difficult for her to connect that we were the little children she knew decades ago in a different location.

I always remember her walks in the evening at Deolali. Growing up as a child, I did not know anybody who took walks in the garden up and down like she did. None of our other neighbors did, except her. Every now and then I think of her walks especially when I am taking a walk. I try to straighten up like her when walking, trying to remember what a good posture she had during those walks, so unlike me.

Please accept my condolences. I know all of you will miss her. I take solace in the fact she lived a good life. Please forward this email to Ronald and Douglas. 

By the way, in the future contact me on this email address of mine. I came to know of this news because Thrity's email c.c.ed to me.  For over years, I have not checked my emails on hot mail address account. It was so thoughtful to let us all know when you are in your grief.

I noticed she died on Mother's day. That must have been the saddest Mother's day for all of you. Take strength by remembering your happy memories with her.

We know that you have been through a lot over the past few months and are, no doubt completely drained emotionally, physically and mentally.
And it will likely be many more weeks, even months, before you are able to relax and let go completely.

As a young boy, growing up, I always thought of A. Annie, as we called her, as a strong, elegant and stern lady.
I had never met her, but my impression was likely based on my own mother's disposition - and since A.Annie was the elder sibling, she was, naturally, even more stern, in my young mind.
When I did finally meet A.Annie, many, many, years later, as an adult, I found her to be a sweet, caring person, with an almost regal-like manner that was very charming.
And then, and now too, I wished I knew her better.  We had met A.Annie's brothers and their families - on our many trips to Karachi, growing up.  And we all have our own fond memories of the uncles Percy, Louis, and Tom, but not enough of A. Annie.
However, I am thankful for the time we had together with all of you, and A.Annie, in Scottsdale a few years ago, as we celebrated A.Annie's 90th birthday.
My mother, too, cherishes that time dearly.
So now, take some quiet time for yourselves (you need it), (continue to) take care of each other and if there is anything we can do from here, please do not hesitate to ask.

.....on the passing of our dearest Aunty Anne. It is prophetic that she went to her eternal reward on Mothers Day - she was a wonderful mother to her four children and it was her way of assuring you all that she was moving on up to where she could continue to look after you - from a different plane. We know we will all meet again and that reunion will be so joyful.
So take consolation in the fact you both did your utmost to keep her happy and comfortable and she knows that. Mothers just know these things. We will pray that her loss will not get you down rather that her abode now in a place of heavenly beauty and happiness will sustain you in the days, months, years, to come in the knowledge that she is finally reunited with her dear husband and your dear father Uncle Lucian.
