

Anne Blanche Cecilia Pinto, 97, resident of Phoenix (formerly of Deolali, India), died Sunday, May 10, 2015. Born November 8, 1917 in Karachi (British India), preceded in death by husband of 45 years, Dr. (Maj.) Jose Luciano Glennie Pinto, M.B.E. Survived by sons Douglas (Alda Flanders) granddaughter Dr. Angie Pinto (Deven Billimoria), and Ronald (Anna Bodnar) granddaughter Mariana Sira, and daughters Dr. Daphne deMello (Late Dr. Vincent R. deMello) grandson Eric deMello, and Brenda Gelhot (Dr. John H. Gelhot).
Anne was the younger sister to her late brothers; Thomas, Percy (Late Angela Soares) and Louis (Grace Lobo) Pinto of Toronto (formerly of Karachi). A beloved mother, she cared lovingly for her family preparing delicious meals and sweets. She instilled in her children the qualities of honesty, hard work, perseverance and faith in God. She loved little children and tutored kindergarteners. When residing in St. Louis she served her community doing volunteer work. She was an Eucharistic Minister in her church and served as an Usher at the Cathedral Basilica in St. Louis during Pope John Paul II's visit to St. Louis. During World War II she served as a volunteer with the Women's Auxiliary Service for troops of the British-Indian Army.
In addition to her children, grandchildren and extended family, Anne will be missed by her younger sister Mary Pinto (Late Burvy Pinto) of Toronto and an international network of relatives and friends.
Her family extends their special thanks to the staff at Camelback Post Acute Care & Rehabilitation Center who provided her with loving care during her stay.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Church of Our Lady of the Angels located at the Franciscan Renewal Center, 5802 East Lincoln Drive, Scottsdale, AZ 85253.
The family has designated the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org for memorial contributions.
