I miss ya pop.......................see you again

Dad today it’s been a year since you left us. Life is not the same without you, but I will continue on. I will uphold my promise to you,  and look after mom. I will honor her as I did you. I’m doing better dad, I break down a lot thinking about you on my long daily drives. I have a lot of time to think on those dark highways, but know that I’ll always hold you in my heart dad. Thank you for always being there. I love you always.

It truly broke my heart to hear of the passing of my Uncle Gene. He was a great man of honor, integrity and wisdom. He was someone we all looked up to and respected as kids. Thank you Uncle Gene for being there for me and all my family during a tragic time several years ago. I remember we stood in granny's  front yard in Kentucky and talked for hours. I do miss that. My Prayers go out to my Aunt Helen, Jesse, Ronnie, Scott, Gene and Ted and all the extended family. May our Heavenly Father comfort you all during this difficult  time. Uncle Gene, I do look forward to talking again in Heaven some day.    

My Uncle Gene, I'm so thankful for those summer memories and time spent when you got to visit here in Kentucky. I love and will miss you until we meet again on Heaven's shores.

As the angels carried you home, we were left with heavy hearts. But you left us with so many great memories. I'll never forget my early childhood days, waiting out front to see your "road scratcher" coming toward the house after your long day at work. And I'll never forget the smell of asphalt on your boots from the hot days you spent working. You would come home with blisters on your feet but would always have enough energy left to give me a ride into the house on one leg as I squeezed and attached myself onto your leg.  You raised us right and always wanted the best for our family. You dedicated your life in support of your family, but most important of all, you gave your life to Christ. I am so happy that you waited for me to be there to spend some time with you and to say goodbye. I know the goodbye was only temporary. Although you did not come home, you went home. You got to hear the words that I one day hope to hear, the words of Jesus saying, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." You were faithful to your family, but most importantly, you were faithful to the Lord. 
We all miss you very much. Our only comfort is in knowing that you are with your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Dad, it is my firm belief that no two believers ever meet for the last time. So, with that, I say goodbye for now. I love you so much and I couldn't have asked for a better dad! 

Dad what you left behind were men you molded us to be. Pop you were the best dad a kid could ever want. I've learned alot just by simply watching you as i grew up. I love you for always taking care of my mom and my brothers. Till we see you again pop, Rest for your work you have done here is done.  Lv Ronnie 

Dear Hopkins Family
Gene and I were first cousins.  I remember him fondly from my childhood.   I am very sorry for your loss.  Please accept my deepest sympathies.   Jerrene Coleman Kendrick.  Griffin, Georgia.

Growing up together we never had much but we made the best memories and I am so thankful for all of then. With much love. Your cousin Sue. 

Dad my heart is so broken now. We all love you very much and know we will see you again some day. Thank you for all the years of love and encouragement through the years. Our world has lost a great man but heaven gained an even greater man. 

PAW! I could only wish to be half the man you were. I know you’re proud of me but I can only hope to one day fill the boots that you worked hard in for so many years. I love you daddy. And I know that you’re proud of me. I just still can’t believe you’re gone!!! Go rest high on that mountain PAW!! Say hello to Nana and Aunt Frances and uncle Papa and granny  and grandpa Ted for me I’ll be there soon. YOU REST NOW PAW I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!

Dad you’re  one in a million. The love you showed us all is beyond words. I don’t want to be full of sadness and sorrow, but I want to tell you as I have before, I could never be a better man than you were. I know it must be beautiful in Heaven, and I know you’re with the Lord now . I’ll be strong for Mom and my brothers Dad. Until I see you again just know that I can’t express the love and gratitude I feel to call you Dad.  Go rest high Daddy .  Love Bear. ❤️
