Arthur S. Gaona

Arthur S. Gaona, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on Sunday, May 15, 2011. He was a lifelong resident of Arizona, born in Miami, AZ on March 24, 1919. Arthur honorably served his country in North Africa and Italy while in the US Army/Air Force during World War II. After returning from the war he married Mary Carmen Romero to whom he remained married to for 64 years, until her passing in 2010. Arthur was a long time member of the Sheet Metal Union, Local 359, retiring in 1981. He is the father of four children, sons; Arthur Gaona (deceased), Ron Gaona, and John Gaona, and daughter; Chris (Mark) Sheets. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Matthew Sheets, Derek Sheets, and Brianne Sheets, and his very special great granddaughter; Jenna Sheets. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace Dad, with mom and Toots by your side. A celebration of Arthur's life will be held at 10:00am on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Carr Tenney Mortuary, 2621 S. Rural Rd. in Tempe. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any donations be made to the Arizona Special Olympics. Arrangements are being held under the direction of Carr Tenney Mortuary in Tempe, AZ.
