

Barbara Alice Border, age 85, of Glendale, AZ passed away on November 4, 2022 with her family by her side. She was born in Gilman, IL in 1937. She is survived by her husband of eight months, Hoyt Kenmore, her daughters Debra McKinion (Robert) and Teresa Hill, Neil Kenmore (Jane) and Nina Kenmore, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Harry Eugene Border, her parents Herman and Helen Kerr Dunn, her sister Wilma Dunn McInnes and her son-in-law Anthony Hill.
She was married to Harry Eugene Border for 64 years. They attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois together and moved to Arizona in 1963. Barbara began her career in Arizona as a home economics teacher at Peoria High School. She then moved to the Arizona Department of Education and became the State Director of Career and Technical Education and the Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction.
In March 2022 Barbara married Hoyt Kenmore who she met decades earlier while they both worked at the Arizona Department of Education. She cherished the past two years with Hoyt and getting to know his family. They enjoyed traveling, playing golf, attending church and socializing with family and friends.
Barbara was a lifelong traveler, singer, piano player and gardener. Her home reflected her love of interior design as it was always updated to reflect the changing seasons. Barbara also loved to sing and did so with her church choir and a community choir. She enjoyed traveling and trying new restaurants with her daughters, and attending events with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Barbara is scheduled at 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 25, 2022 at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85013. The funeral service is scheduled at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Dove of the Desert United Methodist Church, 7201 W. Beardsley Rd.,Glendale, AZ 85308. A graveside service is scheduled at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 719 N. 27th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85009.
