Her parents divorced when she was young and she was the oldest of her siblings – Paula Marsh Moore, Robert Marsh and John D. Hart Jr.
Barbara had a grandmother, Irma Pratt Wolf Leiber who she loving referred to as “Nano.” Barbara travelled with her to family and spent a lot of time with her cousin, St. Elmo Nauman and have been close over the years. Barbara loved family. When she celebrated her 80th birthday, her siblings and many family members came and she really cherished that party.
Barbara worked for many years as a medical transcriptionist for hospitals and doctors. She was very fast at typing. She worked hard to support her family after Allan had a stroke and after he died about 5 years later. She learned many crafts and loved sewing clothes for her family and needy children. She was famous for organizing each grandchild’s items by a special colored ribbon. She loved making themed Christmas ornaments, compiling Christmas writings, writing Christmas cards, keeping contact with people, and especially loved a Phoenix artist – DeGrazia and his paintings and items she collected. She was very talented at crafting and when she finished an item or craft and put her initials on it is was always BQ with a line above to stand for Barbie Kew.
Barbara was married to William “Allan” Kew on June 14, 1957. They had 3 children Suzanne (Doran) Rice, Scott (Jennifer) Kew and Sharynn (Rollin) Moore. In an endearment to her grandmother, Barbara went by “Nano” to her 14 dearly loved grandchildren Allison (Mike), Ethan (Cameo), Doran (Amber), Morgan (Cassie), Katelyn, Nathan (Jessica), Rebecca, Brett, Kimberlee, Braydonn, Brigham(Madison), Camilla (Joshua), Hailee and Benjamin. Also she has 16 great-grandchildren. She is survived also by her siblings Paula and Robert. Each family member will miss her but we know Families are Forever. She is preceded in death by her husbands William Allan Kew and Arnold Noack, brother John D. Hart Jr. and a grandson, Charles D. Rice.
In 1974, Barbara and her family joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many types of callings some of her favorites were working with the Relief Society women, being part of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and doing Family History and indexing. She also loved using her camera to record those memories and made many amazing photo albums – which we all cherish. She even put together her and Allan’s family history stories and photo album for more than 4 generations. She had many talents, was a very hard worker, and loved associating with friends and family. She spent the last few years being cared for by Elizabeth and Andrei plus other hospice and care nurses. We are so grateful for the years of kindness.
