at home with his loved ones surrounding him.
Bert is survived by his loving wife Betty J. Irvine, his beloved sons: James and his wife, Lynn,
Donald and his wife Nora and Bert’s daughters, Brenda and her husband Bill and Charlene and
her husband Don.
Bert was born in Lincoln, Kansas to Bert Francis Irvine, and Mildred Valentine Irvine. He has
two surviving brothers; Christopher and Richard and one surviving sister, Wanda. When Bert
was in the 7th grade, the Irvine family moved to Wellington, Kansas where he lived until coming
to Arizona in 1966 where he would soon meet and marry the true love of his life. He and Betty
married on Valentine’s Day in 1969.
Bert was father to 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Bert was a man who enjoyed making things…and fixing them too. He was a master at
woodworking. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Among the things
he was good at making was ice cream. Appropriately, he learned the technicalities of
refrigeration and air-conditioning which gave him his career. Not willing to accept full
retirement at 65, Bert continued working in the Arizona Summers until he was 80.
Bert Irvine was a fine gentleman, a wonderful man and a friend to many. Always eager to offer a
helping hand or a bit of advice, Bert was a family treasure. He will be remembered fondly and
missed greatly by all who knew him.
An interment for Bert will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Phoenix Memorial Park Cemetery, 200 W. Beardsley Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85027.
