

Betty Lou Shearer, age 89 passed away in Phoenix, Arizona on August 26, 2022 peacefully in her sleep. Betty was born on August 27th, in Cedar Grove, West Virginia. As a child she moved to Ohio. When she married and had her family they moved to California and at retirement moved to Arizona.
Betty was the oldest of 13 children and as a child was given many adult responsibilities, cooking, cleaning and helping to care for her siblings. Growing up Betty was blessed to have a wonderful grandmother (she called Granny) that taught her etiquette, cooking and baking skills. Betty was a wonderful cook and baker and mostly without recipes. She loved to bake cookies and pies, if you ever tasted them you would agree they were delicious.
When Betty wasn't cooking and cleaning she enjoyed growing beautiful fragrant roses, gardenias and orchids. In her retirement Betty spent her time researching the family genealogy in memory of her late sister, Marti. She would spend hours, days, months on her computer researching and learning the family history. Betty and her late husband, Henry Shearer made trips to Utah, Ohio, West Virginia doing research and couldn't wait to tell her children all that they discovered. Betty was very witty and had a very funny since of humor. Betty was a Christian woman loved God and her family.
Betty is survived by 5 of her children, Martha Maeder, Michael Shearer, Dale Shearer, Deborah Rose and Marguerite Skyes, She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, As well as 5 siblings.
Betty is predeceased in death by her husband of 63 years, Henry Shearer and her daughter Mary Hankins.
Betty will be laid to rest with her late husband on Monday September 12th, 2022 at 11:00AM at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
