Betty Rose (Dee) Steele Prose

She was born Aug. 26, 1924 in Hymera, the daughter of James Theodore and Tressie Mason Steele. She and her husband Raymond owned Prose Electric for many years and she later worked at and retired from Columbia House. She was a member of First Christian Church, Village Homemakers, Garden Club and various others organizations. She lived at 741 N. Main Street for 84 years, the house with the big red Merry Christmas on it this time of the year.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her daughter, Michelle Prose Brown; her sister, Thelma Steele Terrell; and her brother, Bert Steele.

Survivors include her son, Ted Prose (and Eileen) of Terre Haute, IN; her daughter, Patty Prose Weathers (and Rob) of Phoenix, AZ; her grandchildren Scott Brown (and Tammie) of Sullivan, IN; Kelli Prose Cole (and Rich) of Sullivan, IN; Michelle Prose of Terre Haute, IN; Mandy Brown Stanifer (and Eric) of Mishawaka, IN; Chris Prose (and Nicole) of Munice, IN; Curt Weathers (and Jenna) of Sacramento, CA; and Remington Weathers of Phoenix, AZ; great grandchildren Arika Prose Nichol (and Matt), Jake Brown, Zack Stanifer, Morgan Prose, Noah Prose, Collin Stanifer, Carly Brown,Tyler Prose and Nate Prose; great great grandchildren Rilie Nichol and Maddie Nichol; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Banks and Brust Funeral Home, 400 N. Court St., Sullivan, IN (812) 268-0238. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church, 105 Broad St, Sullivan, IN. or a charity of choice.
