March 7, 1939 – January 16, 2014
Beverly known to most as “Bev”, to three as “Mom” and to eight as “Grandma” loved many things in her life. She was most known for her devotion to Christ and his Church and served in many capacities through the years. Her true passion was teaching children and youth and was known for her 4th Grade class. She ultimately developed curriculum for Bible Class teachers.
Her many other interests included providing enriching experiences for her children at each stage of their life, travelling to see all of the United States and several countries, learning to fly, sailing, offering hospitality and enjoying many lifelong friendships. She truly enjoyed her grandchildren by playing games with them attending their events and even spoiling them.
Professionally she was honored to teach 7th and 8th Grade Social Studies in Glendale AZ. One year she was able to take her students, most of who were first generation English speakers and had never flown, to Washington DC. In her retirement she authored two historical fiction books for the Junior High market.
She is survived by her husband Harold Martin. They were married 56 years. She is also survived by her brother Harold Vaughan, her children Elizabeth Berry, Tom Martin, Tami Hudson, her grandchildren Stephanie Berry, Matthew Berry, Lauren Berry, Samantha Bauman-Martin, Nicholas Bauman-Martin, Jordan Hudson, Madeline Hudson and Haley Hudson as well as her son-in-laws Steve Berry and Mark Hudson and four nieces and nephews.
While her sudden death is a shock to her family it is how she wanted to go and we are grateful she experienced no pain.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations by check made payable to Barrow Neurological Institute. This will continue funding by her medical team to better treat and advance a cure for Alzheimer‘s disease. Mail checks to 2018 E Granite View Dr Phoenix AZ 85048.
