Letter's to Brandon...
Dearest Dad, Grandpa and Friend,
Well, for the one that never wanted to be the center of attention and ALWAYS put everyone else in front of self, your time to take center stage is before us. Knowing that you are looking down upon us, this message, like so many of our warm but short conversations, will be kept to your desired “to the point” length of time.
When we think of you, we think of a man that could have coined the phrase “actions speak louder than words.” Your quiet demeanor, coupled with the occasional, vociferous “do it right the first time” work-ethic mentality, was etched in our hearts and minds. A content man of his word, your honesty and integrity was always on display while needlessly spoken. Emotionally steadfast, a true man by every sense of the phrase, with the pride and toughness of a cowboy from one of your favorite, old westerns. Your gentle smile with your firm embrace were actions that meant more than expressed words ever could……. you shouted I LOVE YOU without speaking a word.
So here we are today Dad, Grandpa and Friend, honoring you, celebrating your life and everything you stood for; in a quiet, peaceful, selfless, prideful and loving way, The Brandon Lewis Way.
With all our love and with grateful hearts for how you touched our lives……
Steven, Arlene, Amber, Amanda, Vanessa, Tianna and Brooklyn
PS. Promised to keep it short, and did, but almost left out……..hope you’ve saved plenty of seats at the card table for us up there, we look forward to our re
Thank You Dad
First of all Dad, Thank you for marrying Mom. You made a great Team of 56 years. I could not have had better parents.
Thank you for a great Childhood, you always stopped whatever you were in the middle of and helped me with whatever I may have needed. You were never too busy for me. I will always cherish the times you took me fishing along with camping at the East Verde.
Thanks for your hard work ethic and for teaching us the value of a dollar. "You always said, It’s not how much you make, but how much you keep". You did an excellent job at taking care of us.
Thank you for giving me my first BB Gun. I suppose it is too late to apologize to the neighbors?
Thank you for all the weekend picnics we had with you and mom, You both showed me that all you need is a Blue VW Bus, a jug of water, bologna sandwiches and most importantly, FAMILY is all you need to have fun. And we had lots of it.
Thank You for taking us rock hunting. It taught me to always keep an eye out for what's below my feet. I remember heading out with your Green Rock sack and filling it up with many different gems, we found many; crystals, arrowheads, petrified rocks, fossils, Apache Tears, Fire agate, or just something cool in the AZ mountains and desert.
Thank You for introducing me to Golf. Our times together at Papago golf course and Rolling Hills are priceless.
Thank You for teaching me how to play pool.
Thank you for always having a positive attitude especially during my teen years, there were many times that you should have killed me and I would have deserved it..
Thanks for showing us any animal could be a pet, big or small, and therefore, part of the family and should be loved.
You are the nicest person I have ever known, always a great listener with the best laugh and the best smile.
Thank You for all the family gatherings, Card playing, Holidays, Birthdays, complete with off key singing and wrapping paper fights.
Thanks for your honesty and integrity in dealing with us and those around you.
Thank You for always being so kind. I really don't know how you did it. You never said a bad thing about anyone.
Thank You for showing me how to be a good father to my kids. I have some BIG shoes to fill.
Thanks for being a great Father to me, Karen, Susan, and Steve.
You will live on through us and we will never forget our time with you.
You helped make us who we are today.
We were very fortunate to have had you as our father and friend,
Thank You Dad, I love you,
Jeff
