Brenda was born on January 24, 1950, at Booth Memorial Hospital in Detroit, Michigan to Hugh and Bobbie Harris.
After a vacation to the Phoenix area in 1960, Brenda’s family moved to Phoenix in May 1961 where they joined Hugh’s brother, Sid, who worked for the Phoenix Police Department. Brenda’s father, Hugh, worked as a truck driver and mechanic, and her mother, Bobbie, owned Harris Ceramics in Phoenix, Arizona.
Brenda loved to ride her horse, Red, around her home. Girl Scouts also played a role in Brenda’s younger years and later on she also participated as a leader. From an early age, Brenda developed multiple skills in crafting, including sewing, needlepoint, crochet, ceramics, painting and card making. She especially enjoyed making delicately painted and elegantly costumed dolls.
Brenda attended West High School, graduating in 1968 and later attended Phoenix College. She worked at Imperial Lithography printshop where she and Mark met as coworkers. They married in June, 1979.
Together Mark and Brenda made a great team. Brenda’s sharp business mind and skill in the latest technology of typesetting (Compugraphic), combined with Marks’ printing skills and commitment to excellence, led them to soon start a printing business together in Northwest Phoenix.
Mark and Brenda ran Mark Pinch Printing, Inc. while adding two children to their family, Bonnie Jean born October 1980 and Mark II born April 1982. Brenda was a fantastic mom and she and Mark provided their children with great experiences and the best of care growing up.
In 1995, Mark, wanting Sunday School to be part of the kids’ experience, as well as part of his and Brenda’s life, visited a local Bible bookstore where his nephew worked. Mark picked out books and asked about churches. Calvary Chapel, they decided, might be a great fit for their family and soon the family became regular attenders. There Mark found his way back to the Lord, Brenda found the Lord for the first time, and the children fit in so well well it seemed as if Calvary had always been a part of their lives.
Brenda found great joy in serving the Lord and Calvary provided the setting where her gifts were developed and encouraged! While attending Calvary, Brenda discovered her gifting in the area of evangelism. She began taking classes through Evangelism Explosion and eventually went on to lead the ministry and minister in that area with her daughter Bonnie. Brenda and her family were also in the Worship ministry, and she later worked in the prison ministry answering correspondence.
A Memorial Service honoring Brenda will be held on Sunday, August 18th at 5:00 pm at the Northwest Campus of Calvary Phoenix, 6060 W. Bell Road, Glendale, AZ. The church is located at 59th Ave & Bell Road.
While we deeply miss Brenda, we are blessed to know that her absence here means she is now with her Savior!
I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying,
“Look, God’s home is now among his people!
He will live with them,
and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes,
and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain.
All these things are gone forever.”
And the one sitting on the throne said,
“Look, I am making everything new!”
