Carolyn’s love was expressed in the most tangible ways—through shopping for just the right gift, through thoughtful gestures, and through the simple delight of giving to others. Her generous spirit was matched by an adventurous streak that found joy in car rides and in taking in different parts of Arizona with her life partner, Morgan, and her daughter, Mekeba. Along the way, her good sense of humor remained a steady light, warmly felt by those who knew her.
Family was the center of Carolyn’s life and the source of her greatest happiness. She especially enjoyed time with her nieces and nephews, offering them support and genuine attention. Many cherished memories were made at family gatherings, most often at her mother’s house, where togetherness was a tradition and love was shared freely.
Carolyn also found comfort and community in her faith, attending First Institutional Baptist Church. She appreciated simple joys and favorite things—sunflowers, the color blue, and good food. She particularly enjoyed chitlins, and she was known for a meal that brought people back for seconds: meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy. From time to time, she took special pleasure in cooking for a big crowd, welcoming others to the table with warmth and care.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her life partner, Morgan; daughter, Mekeba; parents, Geneva and Gadlee Wilson; sister, Dorothy; brother, Leslie; brother, Larry; sister, Jackie; and baby sister, Margo.
She is survived by her brother, Rochelle Wilson and his wife, Marlene; sister, Benita Wilson; sister in law, Princess Wilson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
