Carter Roland Curtis age 14, passed away September 15, 2013 in Phoenix, Arizona. Carter was born April 28, 1999 in Phoenix, Arizona to Renae and Chad Curtis. Carter grew up in Avondale and trained in martial arts for 6 years, working on earning his black belt. He was currently attending Agua Fria High School and was a member of the Varsity Swim Team, played the tenor drums for the Agua Fria Band of Owls and was an honor student. Carter was very active in the Boy Scouts of America. He loved camping, hiking, rock climbing, spelunking, swimming music and had just recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout which will be presented at a special Eagle Court of Honor, posthumously. Carter loved all things about Lord of the Rings, Batman, Star Wars, Star Trek and his favorite books are Eragon & Eldest. He loved playing Dungeons & Dragons with his family but above all, he had a close relationship with his brother and sisters and parents and loved spending time with them, no matter what it was that they were doing, just as long as they were together. Carter was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held positions of Deacons’ Quorum President, 1st Counselor, 2nd Counselor, and currently serving as the 2nd Counselor in the Teachers Quorum and Home Teacher. As a worthy Aaronic Priesthood holder, Carter earned his Duty to God award as a Deacon and had personal scripture study and personal prayers daily as well as attending early morning Seminary every day before school. Carter had an unparalleled sense of humor, loved to tease, joke and make people laugh. Carter is preceded in death by his grandfather Roland James Botos. He is survived by his parents Chad and Renae Curtis, brother Calvin, sisters Camryn and Carly, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. There will be a visitation Friday, September 20, 2013 from 5 to 8 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 13277 West Thomas Road Goodyear, Arizona 85338. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 10 AM at the church. The cemetery interment will be private. Arrangements entrusted to A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary 710 West Bethany Home Road Phoenix, Arizona.
