Charles A. Miller, age 91, of Phoenix formerly of Newark & Livingston, NJ, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 in Phoenix, AZ. He was born on April 19, 1927 to the late Charles J. and Mary (Ohman) Miller in Newark, NJ. Charles attended St. Benedict Preparatory School in Newark graduating class of 1945; then proudly enlisted into the US Marine Corps. He was a member of Steamfitter's Local 475 for over 60 years. Charles was extremely involved in coaching and umpiring in the Livingston Little League and Babe Ruth Leagues. He also was an Umpire for the International Little League World Series Alumni and had the honor of participating in the 1970 World Series in Williamsport, PA. Charles was an avid bowler and softball player, and enjoyed traveling. He is survived by his five loving children; Robert and wife, Suri, Margaret and husband, Michael, Charles and wife, Michelle, Maureen and husband, Roger, and Kathleen; three siblings, Elaine Jacobs, Helen Schulties, James and wife Sharyn Miller; Six grandchildren, Riley, Colleen, Kelsey, Connell, Makenna, and Peyton; and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Road, Phoenix, AZ 85022. Committal Service with Military Honors will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
