While I never got to meet Mr. Hurt...he would tell Deb to tell me that his d-back's we're better than my angels! He would comment on some of my baseball posts and it was fun.  I'm so sorry for your lost and please know our hearts are with you at this difficult time.

We  remember  Charlie - with love, laughter and many many good times. Charlie and Sandy were among the first  people we met when we arrived in Phoenix in 1971.  They gave us a grand  tour of Phoenix and the valley to help orient us "newbies".  We enjoyed so many delicious meals in their home, tho we do not think Charlie did the cooking!  We remember the time shortly after we came, - dinner at the Hurts- Deb would have been about 5 or 6- David was about 4.  Those two kids came in from playing in the yard, both soaked from head to toe!  Somehow the hose had  turned on but nobody was quite sure how that happened. (Did Charlie do it??)  Charlie was fully invested in Grace Christian School.  In addition to serving on the school board,
he laid out the school bus routes the years we had that service,  and was the official score keeper for our basketball games.
We remember Charlie - Thank Our Great God for his loving dedication and friendship - and look forward to enjoying heaven with him for all eternity.




























































































































































































































































































































The one thing I'll never forget is how Charlie, as well as Sandy, welcomed me in their family the very first time we met.  Charlie took me for jury duty in a horrible storm, streets were flooded, it was pouring rain and I told him I really appreciated him taking me and he calmly looked at me and said, "That's what you do for family."
Another thing I can't forget is hearing him tease Debbie Kay  all the time, it may have been about the Diamond Backs or Chevy and Fords or maybe something entirely different, but they went at it!  Always with plenty of laughs.
He was a great man, who'll live on in my memories and the memories of many others!

R I P, Charlie!




Watching the Arizona Diamondbacks will never be the same for me.  Whenever the Diamondbacks were losing, Charlie would always text me, and ask if I was watching the game.  If I was at the house watching it with him and Debbie (his daughter) he would ask me to go sit outside if they were not doing well..  I know he was teasing, but then again, he always teased me.   He even teased me all the time about my driving, and the fact that I would get lost.   I am really going to miss Charlie, as he treated me as one of the family.  Praying for comfort for the family and friends.  I love you Charlie, and will see you again.
