Charles is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cynthia; his children, Joanne (Marlene), Desire’ (Christopher), Ashley (Rick), Nichole (Peter), and Bryan (Whitney); his 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Yvonne; and many extended family members and friends who were fortunate to know and love him.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christine, and his sister, Jennifer.
Born in Carlton, Minnesota, Charles grew up in a military family before eventually making Phoenix his home for most of his life. He graduated from Washington High School and built a long career in commercial construction. Hard work wasn't simply something Charles valued—it was woven into who he was. He believed in doing things well, expected a lot from those around him, and worked to instill that same sense of determination and responsibility in his family.
Charles leaves behind a legacy that extends well beyond his work. It lives on in the family he loved, the generations he helped shape, the lessons he shared, and the countless stories and memories that will continue to bring laughter and keep him close.
A celebration of Charles's life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Ashley, and son-in-law, Rick Bowers. Family and friends will gather to honor Charles in the way that feels most fitting: together, sharing the stories, memories, and laughter of a life well lived and a man who will be deeply missed.
