Charles Anthony Saletta, Jr. ("Tony"), 69, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on May 11th, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. Tony was born in Evansville, IN to Charles and Edith Saletta. He graduated from Reitz Memorial High School in 1961 and the United States Air Force Academy in 1965. Tony also served during the Vietnam conflict. After leaving active duty Tony continued to serve his country as an Air Force Reservist until his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel after 28 years of total service. After leaving active duty, Tony attended Harvard University and was awarded a Masters Degree in Architecture. He also earned a Master's degree in Business from Vanderbilt University. Tony was a licensed architect who worked for the military as well as in the civilian sector. He was always willing to help his friends and family and will be remembered for his kindness and generosity. His eclectic taste in music will always be remembered, as will his famous lasagna and love of animals. Tony is survived by his wife of 43 years Anne, sister Gaetana, daughter Jessamyn and her husband Henry, and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
In accordance with Tony's wishes he will be interred with full military honors at the United States Air Force Academy at a later date. The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to Saint Mary's Food Bank or Hospice Of The Valley.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 18th, 2013 at 10:30 AM at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Road, Phoenix, AZ.
