Cort Tiffin Asbury entered this world surrounded by the love of his family, born to Cleo Gittinger and Harry Asbury on January 20, 1965. He completed his earthly journey on August 31, 2026. Answering a calling to serve others, Cort joined the fire department in 1992. Through unwavering dedication, courage, and leadership, he earned the respect of his brothers and sisters in service as he steadily worked his way through the ranks, proudly achieving the title of Captain. Cort was a devoted Christian follower, deeply rooted in his faith and actively involved in his church community. Above all, Cort cherished time spent with those he loved. Whether sharing laughs with friends or creating memories with family, his presence brought warmth to every room. He was an honorary member and devoted supporter of the Archer-Ragsdale Arizona Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and took great pride in helping preserve their legacy. Cort was preceded in death by his mother, Cleo Gittinger. Cort is survived by his father, Harry Asbury of La Mesa, CA, his nephews, Dylan Kryka and his wife Erica, and Kyle Kryka; his beloved great-nieces, McKenna, Leia, and Skye, of Chandler, Arizona, who brought immense joy to his life; and his loyal feline companions, Ringo and Max along with many-many friends he met along the way. In honoring Cort’s memory and carrying forward his legacy of care for others, his family invites reflection on the quiet struggles so many face: “May we learn to honor both the strength we show to the world and the silent battles we fight within. Reach out, check on one another, and hold tight to love." A Memorial Service will be held at Christ's Church of the Valley (CCV) - Peoria, 7007 W Happy Valley Rd, Peoria, AZ 85383, US, on September 15, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
