I met Kip through a detailed search for an engine builder in AZ. being from Southern California I taken a chance on a guy here in AZ and almost cost me a 351w block! not to mention 1300.00 he did cost me! I made many calls and visited many shops. I have been a Ford guy my whole life and make my living working on Fords. I met Kip through a shop here in AZ and immediately trusted him. Kip I found always did great work,never had to follow up at all. Kip was a friendly guy and loved what he did. we would talk about anything Ford for hours! stories from when he was a kid and his Father at the Dealership. what a great guy! I figured I hit gold when I met him and his skill level. I was hoping for many more years to share with Kip. He will be missed! RIP Good Buddy! P.S I heard they have a great track in heaven!

Kip Martin was my friend...

I first me Kip in Kansas at the ARK City race way in about 1986. I had just made a pass in my 65 Plymouth Hemi and blown a spark plug out of the head. Kip came over to help and we started a long term relationship from that time on, and later in Arizona. I was really taken back about his death as I knew he stayed in good shape for the most part by exercising regularly. Over the years I got to know him for more than a premier engine builder and racer. To me he was an intelligent engineer, but never received any such degree from a college. Kip was good at what he did partly because of his desire to find out just how things worked, or how they were built...no one I knew had this ability quite as unique as his. He was also very interested in other things as well, such as aviation, as I took him flying with me several times. His stories of his own flying in Kansas with his dad, and other times as a young man were very entertaining. I also remember the stories he told of his travels to Europe with his parents. He later developed a love for classical music and the piano. Yes Kip was a unique person, I have know no one else like him. In closing, Kip always loved his children and grandchildren, as he talked to me about them often...I think it was his wish to retire to Kansas so as to be near them.  God's speed Kip, I will miss you.

What a shock to hear about KIP. Thought he would always be around working on our Fords and giving us advice on how to make them run better.
I've known KIP since the 70's,when he brought his Galaxy out to the Winternationals to run against us in our Mustang, his motor broke so we never got to see who was best in class. Some of my best memories in the last few years was when I would go to the Races and help him run his car.
Keep those Fords running. I'll miss you.
