Cristy was born on April 12, 1975, in Roseburg, Oregon. She graduated from Emmett High School in 1993 and pursued higher education with unwavering dedication. She attended Treasure Valley Community College and the University of Idaho before earning her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Boise State University in 1999. In 2006, she completed her Master of Social Work at Northwest Nazarene University. Cristy went on to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), holding certifications as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), EMDR Trained Therapist, and Emotion Code Certified practitioner. Her professional life was marked by compassion and integrity.
Cristy devoted herself to helping others heal and grow through her work as a therapist. Her clients found solace in her presence—she always had time to listen, never judged, and offered kindness even when it wasn’t returned. Her deep spirituality guided her path; she knew God personally and lived each day with purpose and grace.
Cristy's love for life extended far beyond her career. She found joy in running through nature trails, hiking under open skies, swimming in the ocean’s embrace, tending to her garden, capturing beauty through photography, and engaging in thoughtful conversations that stirred the soul. She was an avid reader and traveler who embraced every opportunity to explore the world around her. Her energy work reflected her belief in healing from within—a testament to the depth of her spiritual journey.
Above all else, Cristy cherished her family. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Douglas McDowall; children Alejandro DeLeon, Arianna DeLeon, Andres DeLeon, DJ McDowall, Zachary McDowall, and Whitney McDowall; grandchildren Mateo DeLeon, Wesson DeLeon, Lilyana DeLeon, Amora DeLeon, Tlaya McDowall, Kenadee McDowall, Gracie Koplin, and Clayton McDowall; mother Cheryl Martin; sisters Teresa Weekes and Debra Hackler; brother Randy Bollingberg; mother-in-law Yvette Mitchell; and numerous nieces and nephews including Ashley, Josh, Tommie, Emmaleigh, Autumn, Sarah, Alysha, and Barrett.
She now joins her father Tommie Bollingberg and grandparents Jeanette and Kenneth Bollingberg in eternal peace.
Cristy lived by the belief that “it’s not the length of time that you spend on earth—it’s what you do with it.” Her life was a radiant example of love without condition. She never harbored hate—even toward those who wronged her—and gave freely of herself to everyone she encountered.
May Cristy's memory bring comfort to those who knew her and may we all strive to share even a fraction of the love she so generously gave throughout her life.
