Cynthia (Cindy) Susan Fasano, 70, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2019 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Cindy was born in 1949 in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Forest View High School in Arlington Heights. In her younger years Cindy worked for United Airlines as a flight attendant until she married Robert (Bob) Fasano in 1969. They lived in Elk Grove Village for the next 20 years where they raised their 4 children. In 1988 Cindy and Bob decided to move to Arizona to escape the snow. They built a new home in the city of Scottsdale and Cindy quickly became a southwest décor enthusiast. She enjoyed the warm and sunny climate and enjoyed hosting family parties and spending time out back in the family pool.
Cindy was an enthusiastic grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren as they were growing up. She was known for having a way with children, especially babies. She would rock them and sing nursery rhymes to them and has passed down a love of music to all her children and grandchildren. She was a dog lover and treated every dog that she owned like one of her babies. Cindy was the most empathetic woman and would hurt if her loved ones hurt – it was her superpower. She was also highly intelligent and had a passionate interest in politics. She followed the news very closely and enjoyed debating with anyone who would engage. Cindy loved any kind of puzzle or brain teaser. She was often affectionately referred to as “medical mom” by her family, due to her interest and knowledge of the medical field.
Cindy was not only a loving grandmother but a loving mother, sister and friend. Her loss will be deeply felt by many. She is survived by her 4 children; Anthony, Michael, Noelle and Leanna and their spouses; Margaret, Michelle, Vince and Brandon; 9 grandchildren Ashley Marie Fasano, Nicholas Robert Fasano, Tyler Ryan Bergstrom, Makenzie Lynn Bergstrom, Lauren Elizabeth Fasano, Christopher Michael Fasano, Donovan Michael Thelander, Kassidy Rae Thelander and Aubree Josephine McCoy; her brother Gregory DeOrio and her sister Lisa Repenning. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rosemary DeOrio.
Please join us in celebration of her life on Saturday October 5, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary, located at 200 W. Beardsley Road in Phoenix, Arizona.
