March 10, 1939 – May 8, 2025
Damian Vasilov, affectionately known as Dime or Jimmy, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 86 years old.
Born on March 10, 1939, in the village of Armensko, Macedonia, to Mihale and Dosta Vasiliou, Dime’s early life was shaped by resilience, tradition, and a deep sense of family. In the early 1960s, he immigrated to Toronto, Canada, where he laid the foundations of a new life full of hope and opportunity.
In 1968, Dime married Vera Nicevski of Flint, Michigan, and together they built a family rooted in love and hard work. He was a devoted husband and a proud and loving tate (father) to his three children: Eileen (Soto) Talidis, Dorothy (Alex) Stefanovich, and Michael.
Dime’s legacy lives on through his four beloved grandchildren — Christopher Stefanovich, Demitri Talidis (fiancé, Rand Mammo), Menka Talidis, and Slave (KCee) Stefanovich — and his two cherished great-grandchildren, Damian Stefanovich and Olina Stefanovich.
A man of quiet strength and determination, Dime worked tirelessly to support and provide for his family. He was a proud Macedonian. His dream was to one day live in the United States and experience the American dream — a dream he proudly fulfilled in Phoenix, Arizona alongside his wife, daughter Dorothy, and son Michael.
Dime found joy in the simple pleasures of life: summer road trips, seeing new places, and, most importantly, spending time with those he loved. His adventurous spirit, warmth, and dedication to family will never be forgotten.
He leaves behind a rich legacy of love, perseverance, and the enduring bonds of family.
May his memory be eternal.
