It is with great sadness to announce that, Daniel Robert Purdin, known better to friends and family as Dan or Danny, suddenly passed away of congestive heart failure at the age of 55, on January 4th, 2021.
Danny was born May 26, 1965 in London, Ohio to Daniel Dean Purdin and Lynn Terry Ortega. He was the oldest of three children with two younger sisters Angela Rodriguez and Jennifer Purdin. Danny fathered two children in the 80’s, Porscha Purdin- Diaz and Daniel James Purdin. He’s the proud grandfather of 7 grandbabies listed from oldest to youngest: Cayden, Leila, Jami, Grayson, Hailey, Winter and a grandson on the way in March.
Danny attended Prescott high and after high school he began working for Chartier drywall in Prescott, AZ. Danny was always self-motived and determined which played a role in him developing his own business in Arizona called Dan Purdin Drywall. He later had the opportunity to expand his business to California. He also worked hard managing multiple properties in the California area which he took great pride in by having great relationships with his tenants and maintaining all his units. Danny made his way back to AZ where he always felt at home. He was able to be closer to his Mom, sisters, and high school friends and most of all, he was close to his favorite places to fish, hunt, and camp.
Anyone who knew Danny, knew he was a fun-loving guy who loved to laugh and make jokes with the people he loved. Danny would captivate you by his piercing blue eyes and kind smile along with his quick-witted sense of humor. Danny was never afraid to voice his opinion and had a passion for caring and protecting those he loved the most. Danny had a great love for the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He found peace and happiness when he was surrounded by nature. Some of his greatest stories start with, “one time when I was camping…” He was never one to miss a hunting season whether it was deer, elk, pheasant, and so on. Some of his first lessons he taught his children were to love the outdoors and respect the nature around them. Danny would create memories bonding with his grandkids or nieces/nephews by taking them camping and teaching them how to fish or hunt. One memory he had was taking his grandson from San Diego to the pier at Ocean Beach, he wanted to get his grandson off the video games and teach him a new skills…..to fish. He went out and bought him a new pole, bought him some lunch, and walked with him to the end of the pier. They cast their lines while they ate and when his grandson got a tug (a big one) he came up and helped him pull in his big fish. They were both beyond excited at their catch. Of course, they threw it back in, but they came home and bragged about how tough they were pulling in their big prize. This was a perfect example of the joy Danny brought to the people he loved and there are many more stories like this that each person who loved him could tell.
Danny loved his mother very much and always knew he could count on her. Danny helped his mother fix things around the house and enjoyed waking up in the morning and talking to her every day. She was with him up until he left to go to the hospital and was the last person he spoke with in the family. He leaves knowing how much he was loved by his mother as well as the rest of his family. There is great comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain or discomfort and he is now with his best friend, “Dog,” his NanNan, and all his friends he has lost in the past.
He is survived by his parents Daniel Dean Purdin and Lynn Terry Ortega, his daughter Porscha Diaz-Purdin, and son Daniel James Purdin and his 7 grandkids. He is survived by two sisters Angela Rodriguez and Jennifer Purdin, two aunts and four uncles, several cousins, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his NanNan Evelyn Terry, his Grandpa James Terry, His grandma Helen Halliburton and Grandpa Elmo Purdin.
Due to the current pandemic, there will be no funeral service, although he will be cremated per his wishes.
