Danielle Mari Guerin age 33 passed away unexpectedly after a short critical illness on 5/05/2020.
She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on 4/23/1987 to Don and Maggie Guerin.
Danielle was a graduate of Shadow Mountain High School class of 2005. She attended Arizona State University from 2005-2007 then transferred to Brookline College where she earned her Associate Degree in Nursing in 2009 followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon State University in 2011, and a Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner with a GPA of 4.0 from Chamberlain College in 2017. She was a member of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, and was awarded a Certificate of Excellence for exhibiting outstanding standards of Professionalism, Integrity, and Academic excellence. She also served as a preceptor for multiple Nurse Practitioner students with the goal of enriching their professional skills while simultaneously, through her own example, inspiring them to share her passion for caring for the sick while also understanding the fundamental importance of preventing illness through health maintenance and health education for her patients.
Most recently, Danielle was employed at Happy Kids Pediatrics/Feliz Care Centers. Prior to that she was employed by Boys and Girls Pediatrics/Gila Internal Medicine, and prior to that worked as an RN at Mayo Clinic for many years.
Danielle’s greatest accomplishment was her never wavering passion in caring for her patients which she expressed many times as being, “a guardian of their health so that they could take care of their children and their families.” She was a fierce advocate for every child she met, and she had a compassionate and giving heart, especially for the poor and the needy. She volunteered at multiple food banks in Phoenix, and during the holidays, she delivered gift boxes so that others could celebrate with their families. In her spare time, Danielle loved to dance and swim, but most of all, she loved to spend time with family.
In addition, Danielle was passionate about organ donation. She filled out her first organ donation form on line in 2006 at the age of 19, and modified it again (2012) after visualizing first hand what a gift organ donation really was, and what that second chance would mean to others; enabling a young mom with such a gift to continue to take care of and enjoy her children. Danielle would say, “donate your organs, you don’t need them in heaven and they will serve others, why take them with you”! Danielle donated 7 organs to 5 recipients who now have an opportunity to live healthier lives.
Danielle is survived by her parents, Don and Maggie, 3 brothers, Donnie, Jonathan and Jason (her rock), and Jason’s wife Kelly, and the apple of her eye, nephews Jake, Colin, and nieces Natalie and Kate, and close friend, and boyfriend Marco Carrasco. Her motto was “Family and close friends are forever”. In addition, she is survived by her maternal grandmother Merlinda Sandoval, and by her fraternal grandmother Billie Marie Guerin. She also leaves behind 7 special aunts/uncles, and many cousins who she loved with all her heart, and who in turn, cherished her. Danielle was the best daughter, sister, and aunt in the world. She was a loyal friend to many. If you were one of them, you were truly blessed.
Danielle was preceded in death by her Grandpa Sandoval who she loved with all her heart, and by her uncle Junior, and her cousin Greg, and her fraternal grandfather Donald S. Guerin Sr.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Mary’s Food Bank if you so desire. smfba.convio.net/DanielleMariGuerinTributeForm
