David Conrad Bolstad

David Conrad Bolstad, 80, passed away on April 15, 2018 after a long battle of complications from diabetes. He was born in Minneapolis, MN on January 9, 1938 and was the youngest of six children. He was known as David to his family and Dave to his friends. He married Patricia McCarthy in 1965 and together they had three beautiful daughters. David spent his working career in the elevator trade. He always said that he was in the vertical transportation business.

In 1978, after his older brother Richard challenged him to throw down his snow shovel and move to Phoenix, David, his wife and family relocated to Phoenix from Minneapolis where he continued his career at Elevator Specialists and Arizona Elevator “the up and down boys”. He was a mentor to many of his apprentices and while they admit that Dave could be a bit of a pain in the butt because of his work ethic and perfectionism, they regarded him as a really good man and a great friend.

Dave enjoyed a cold Budweiser, Sunday dinners with his family and the laughter generated by his dry sense of humor and the multiple retelling of the giant marshmallow dream joke. David will be remembered as a devoted father, a wonderful brother, a man with a great sense of humor, a guy who could literally fix anything, a mentor and a true friend.

His family is at peace knowing that he likely took an elevator straight up to heaven.

David is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Patty Fossum, Marilyn Thompson, Margie Lehman and brother Richard Bolstad. He is survived by his brother Donald Bolstad, his three daughters Dawn Bolstad-Johnson (Mark Johnson), Cadi Adams (Ronnell Adams) and Keely Bolstad, his grandchildren Devon, Jordan, Kaylee and Zachary and dozens of extended family members.

A celebration of his life, visitation and rosary will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 West Bethany Home Road, Phoenix, AZ. Funeral Mass celebration will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Church 4715 N. Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85012
