David James Lucas was born September 7th, 1954, to Murray and Evelyn Lucas in Detroit, MI. He was their firstborn son, and would be the older brother to four younger siblings to come. In 1960, at the age of 6, he moved with his family to Phoenix AZ. In school he was a good student and was involved in DECA in high school. David grew up loving fast cars and motorcycles. He had a Mustang, and then rode motorcycles after that. He went to Motorcycle Mechanic Institute after high school and started a career as a motorcycle mechanic. At the age of 19 he was in a serious motorcycle accident, which left him with brain damage, ended his motorcycle mechanic career, and motorcycle riding. He did recover enough to eventually live on his own in an apartment for years, and he was a familiar sight riding his bicycle and the Phoenix bus system everywhere. David loved the Lord and attended Hope Baptist Church until it was no more. He was a kind soul, would help you in any way he could. He always had a shirt pocket filled with way too many pens and pencils, plus his comb and usually a flashlight. It was something we loved about him. His health did slowly decline with Parkinson's and he had to move into an adult care home in 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, and lived there for 6 yrs. After breaking his hip and surgery in Sept 2026, his health very rapidly declined and he went home to be with the Lord on Oct 6, 2026. We love and miss you David, we will always remember you.
