Phoenix- Dawn Corrine Potts, Age 54, passed away in Phoenix on Wednesday June 9th, 2021. Born January 16, 1967 in Phoenix, she was raised by her father Edwin Potts who passed in 2006, and mother and father, Carolyn and Rick Kleck. The middle of 3 children she is survived by her mother and father, Sister Kandis Councilor, her two children Anthony and Jaimie, and her three grandchildren of whom she was wildly proud of. Dawn had both her son Anthony and her daughter Jaimie in Phoenix where she resided all of her life. Having a lifelong passion for children she spent most of her career as a head start teacher and then as an early childhood advocate with the City of Phoenix. Her career at the time of her passing was as a secretary for the early childhood development department. She was working for the city of Phoenix for 20+ years loving every moment she had to influence a child's life for the better. She would swell with pride as she saw these children grow into wonderful people, her own included. Her main hobby was being a good “Mimi” for her grandchildren, yet also included swimming and being out in the Arizona sun, though hated the heat, and enjoying time with family and friends. A devoted mother, there were times where she went out of her way to bring smiles to the faces of her children, both of blood and those she adopted with her heart. She will be remembered with a bright smile and laughter, the many jokes and stories she shared. The ones her family will continue to share in honor. Many thanks to the family who helped band together in this very difficult time to prepare the celebration of her life. Goodbye Dawn. Beloved Daughter, Sister, Mother, Mimi, Teacher and Friend. You will be sorely missed and your absence felt eternally. We all love you so much. We will see you again on the other side, in heaven. And we know what you would say… do not sorrow but smile, for I am happy.
