Delma Lucile Wilson (Jones)

99, of Phoenix, was called to join the choir of angels on December 2, 2018. She was born on November 9, 1919, the second of three children born to Thomas A. and Gertie A. Jones in Gary, Indiana. Survived by 2 daughters, Stephanie (Chuck) Thompson and Leah (Lou) Morse; 1 son Tod (Cindy) Wilson, 4 grandsons, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 sister Arlene Moser age 101 of Danville, Indiana. In 1942 she moved to Phoenix because her doctor told her the southwest would be better for her asthma. She became involved with the youth group at First Church of Christ on Central Avenue (now Lincoln Heights Christian Church) where she met and married Thomas T. (Ted) Wilson Jr. on June 25, 1946. They were both very active church members for over 70 years. Music was always very important to her as her father (of Welsh heritage) sang and her mother played the piano. She sang in glee club, girl’s trios and had many solos in her 50 years with the church choir. She was an excellent seamstress. She made many of her daughter’s clothes as well as her own and some beautiful quilts. She also volunteered for the American Red Cross for several years. Most importantly, she was a happy, funny, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She saw the good in everyone. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 1:00 pm at A L Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary 710 W. Bethany Home Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kulpahar Kids Home c/o Ann Huffman P O Box 32574 Phoenix, AZ 85064 or Hospice of the valley.
