Born May 12, 1937, Donald proudly served in the United States Navy for six years aboard the USS Yorktown. After his service, he built a long and respected career at Honeywell, retiring as a Senior Principal Software Manager.
Donald was married for 43 years to Donna.
He is survived by his son, Derek Abbitt; daughter-in-law, Autumn Abbitt; grandsons, Dalton Abbitt and Aiden Abbitt; as well as his daughter, other grandson, and two great-grandchildren.
Donald enjoyed the outdoors—especially hunting and fishing—and he also loved golf. An avid traveler, he visited every state in the U.S. and explored more than 50 countries around the world.
He was the kind of person who showed up and stayed steady—supportive, dependable, and proud of his family. Whether it was being there for the big moments or the everyday ones, Donald’s presence meant something, and he will be deeply missed.
