Donald K Carpenter

80, was born July 26, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and past away peacefully June 23, 2011 in Mesa, Arizona. Don graduated from high school and attended college in Tulsa before starting a vocation as a machinist which eventually took him and his family to Tremonton, Utah during the early 60s. In 1964, they moved to Tempe, Arizona where he began a very successful 35-year career in audio-visual sales to the Arizona public school system.

Don was active in his community, church, and the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was Past Exalted Ruler of the Tempe Elks Club, and a member of Community Christian Church for over 40 years serving as Elder and Board Chairman. He took pride and active interest in his children and grandchildren as a Little League coach, backyard swim instructor, courtside/arena fan and musical performance attendee. His favorite activities included friend and family gatherings, singing in the church choir, golf, racquetball, travel, reading and watching sports on television.

Don is preceded in death by Kermit (father), Maxine Lusk (mother), and Norma (first love and wife of 46 years). He is survived by Shirley (beloved wife and companion of 10 years), sons Don (Debbie) and Kevin (Patty), daughter Karin Aksdal (Arnie), grandchildren Carissa Adams (Sean), Justin Carpenter (Penny), Thor Aksdal, and Megan Stephenson. Don also enjoys the love of a large extended family and wide circle of friends.

A memorial service will be held at Community Christian Church, 1701 S. College, Tempe, AZ, Wednesday, July 6 at 5PM.
