Donald White Jones

Lt. Col. Donald W. Jones, US Air Force (Ret.). Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away at age 78 on 05/15/2011. Don was born in Springfield, IL to Leroy and Hazel Jones – the youngest of four boys. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Agriculture Education. He married Norma Ruth Broaddus on March 3, 1956 in Raymond, Illinois. Don served 26 years in the Air Force starting his career as a navigator. He obtained a Master’s Degree in Education and later worked in Contract Management. He and Norma had 3 children, Deborah Jones-Ludwig (Larry), Donald William Jones (Jean Ericksen) and Thomas Paul Jones (Monica Barnett). After retiring from the Air Force, he and Norma settled in Phoenix and Don worked for Motorola for 12 years. After retiring from Motorola he and Norma spent their winters traveling in their motor home. Don along with Norma also volunteered with several organizations such as SCORE, the American Legion, and their church. Don leaves a legacy of Christian faith and deep love to his wife, children and 7 grandchildren – Joshua, Donald (DJ), Sarah, Paula, Julianne, Brooke and Abbey. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, brother Kermit and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Clarence and Charles. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 11:00 am at Arizona Community Church, 9325 S. Rural Road, Tempe, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations to Arizona Community Church or the American Legion would be appreciated.
