Doris Mary Peters
October 25, 1927 – July 8, 2019
Doris Mary Peters, age 91, went home to God on Monday, July 8, 2019, while she was surrounded by her loving family in Peoria, Arizona. She is now going to be our angel in heaven watching over us. Doris was born on October 25, 1927 in Queens, New York to the late Thomas and Mabel Shewan. She graduated from William Cullen Bryant High School. Doris worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance for 36 years as an Office Manager. She grew up in Queens, New York and retired in Phoenix, Arizona. Doris was married to John Peters for 62 years. She enjoyed traveling, socializing with her friends, watching football as well as going to the race track. Doris’s favorite holiday was Christmas and she was a big John Wayne fan. Doris is survived by her three loving children, Jeanne Recchion, Tommy Peters and Dorothy Peters; four grandchildren, Tara Youngker, Travis Recchion, Tommy Peters Jr. and Jordan Recchion; three great grandchildren, Trey Youngker, Aliyah Youngker and Charlotte Recchion and many other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Peters. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. There are not enough words to explain what an extraordinary person she was. She will remain in our hearts forever. Visitation will be Thursday, July 11th, 2019, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Road, Phoenix, AZ 85022. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, July 12th, 2019 at Shadow Mountain Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Doris’s honor may be made to the St. Jude Hospital, at https://www.stjude.org/.

My Mom loved and cared about your Mom so much as if they were sisters. I know they enjoyed their time together catching up with each other over the years. We will be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers during the coming days. Doris will always have a special place in our hearts also. Blessings from our family.
