Doris Mae "Skipper" Vader, 93, born 6/5/29, passed away on 6/13/22 in Phoenix, AZ. She was born in South Haven, MI, grew up in Michigan City, IN, and with first husband Ellsworth "Pat" Maxson and three kids, the family of five moved to Phoenix on 5/5/55.
Skipper is survived by her son Paul Maxson and twin daughters Vicky (Paul) Okamoto and Sherry (Bruce) Myers, grandson Matthew (Janice) Okamoto, and a brother Tony Bortz.
Skipper enjoyed sewing, cooking, and baking for her family, passions she passed on to her daughters. Eventually she went to work for the Washington School District as a cafeteria cook for 22 years.
After a long marriage to Pat, she was reunited briefly with her second high school sweetheart Elmer Kreshock. They married in 1986 but sadly, he passed shortly after. In 1999, she was reunited with her first high school sweetheart Garry Vader. They married that year and had 12 wonderful years together before he passed in 2012. Skipper is predeceased by her three husbands.
A visitation will be held at Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 W. Beardsley, June 25th at 1pm with service following at 2pm. Private burial. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower, 85014.
Life's Blessings Assisted Living Home in Phoenix provided the most excellent care in her last 1.5 years.
