Dorothy Maie Lawton

Dorothy (Dottie) F. Lawton, 90 was called to be with her Loving Heavenly Father on the morning of August 6, 2014. Her parents, Maie Garthwaite McGowan, Howard Conrad Filbert Sr., brothers Howard Conrad Filbert Jr. and William Oliver Filbert 1st, preceded her in death. She is survived by daughter Colleen (Paul) Siken, grandson David; and son Jeff (Caryn) Lawton, grandson Jordan and granddaughter Caitlyn of Pullman, WA. She was born on February 17, 1924 in Baltimore Maryland.

Dottie helped to support her family in her work as a Registered Nurse in Houghton NY, Dallas TX, & Minneapolis MN. She served as a school nurse for the Ocotillo Grade School and Phoenix Christian High School in Phoenix AZ. She served alongside her husband Lew Lawton in his ministry at Bethany Bible Church as a Sunday School teacher, Wedding Coordinator, Librarian and she mentored many young women.

Dottie enjoyed humming birds, strawberries, good food and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

A memorial service for Dottie and Lew who passed away on July 17, 2014 will be held on August 9th, 2014 at Bethany Bible Church, 6060 N. 7th Ave. in Phoenix at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be given to the Dallas Theological Seminary, 3909 Swiss Ave., Dallas TX, 75204.
