Douglas Warren Maxon, 64, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2022. The coolest guy around known as Doug, was born December 23, 1957 weighing in at 7Lbs 4 Oz, then growing up to be a pretty tall dude. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Harold and Betty Lou Maxon. He was one of five children; Barbara, Greg, Stuart and Bruce.
Doug was married to a pretty sweet lady, Dianna for 21 years before her passing in 2011. His kids Kristin and Michael, he thought were “Okay” but his grandchildren were way cooler.
Doug ran super-fast at Saguaro High School, winning track athlete of the year in 1976. In the newspaper article about him, they apparently thought he was a pretty good high jumper too. After high school he went on to college to try to be business-like but decided he’d rather work on cars, and then went on to work on airplanes. His words, “I went to airplanes because I was sick of people.” True story.
In the mid 80’s he began working for Dynair at Deer Valley Airport, then in 2012 he moved to the “big boys” and became a mechanic for Southwest Airlines. He was so good at his job that he was asked to go many places, to fix many airplanes but always would say, “Call me and I will tell you how to fix it over the phone.” Free travel benefits, but he would rather stay home.
His whole life he loved to push the limits on everything he did. He loved his outdoor toys, being in the desert, and his all-time favorite place, Tonopah spending time with his longtime girlfriend, Denise.
We will miss his smart mouth, funny personality, and hearing him say, “Man, why aren’t they putting in Biyombo, they need to play Biyombo.”
