Dwight Marlon McCurdy, 72, was born on April 7, 1951 in Forest, Mississippi to James O'Neil and Lovey Marie McCurdy who both preceded him in death. Dwight gained his wings to be with Jesus on April 4, 2024 in Phoenix, AZ.
His parents relocated to Las Vegas, NV when he was 3 months old. Dwight attended grade school in Las Vegas and graduated in 1969 from Rancho High School. He later went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from University of Nevada Las Vegas, in 1975.
Shortly after earning his degree and graduating from college, he was hired by Air Liquide, formerly Liquid Air in Las Vegas, on Western Avenue. Dwight relocated to Phoenix, Arizona in 1980. Dwight was a Chemical Engineer, and retired as a Regional Sales Manager in 2011.
Dwight was a very intelligent, social, and fun person to be around; nobody was a stranger to him. He was active in many social groups. He was one of the founding members and President of Special Friends, which was a mentorship program for young black and brown youths here in the Phoenix area. He also was a member of ACBES; Arizona Counsel of Black Engineers and Scientists. Dwight was also affiliated with the Black Arizona Chamber of Commerce.
In the late 70's, Dwight became a licensed minister under Bishop E. N. Webb at Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ in Las Vegas, NV. Here in AZ, he attended Skyway Church in Goodyear, AZ, Pastor Greg Brown.
He loved working around the house, especially in the garden. He enjoyed hiking the trails with his beloved wife Audrey. You could find him glued to the television whenever the Phoenix Suns, Diamondbacks, or Cardinals were playing. His favorite sport was watching the Formula 1 races.
Dwight had a genuine love for people, especially his family. He really enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to communicate with his family and friends, collect family photos and also loved to sing Karaoke, especially at family functions.
Preceded in death by Daughter Serene Desiree McCurdy, Brother Jimmy Darrell McCurdy. He is survived by his loving Wife Audrey McCurdy, Daughter Courtney Allison McCurdy, Brother's William O. McCurdy (Billie), Gregory McCurdy (Susana), Sister's Brenda Carter, Carmen Jackson (Jamil) and a hosts of nieces (great), nephews (great), cousins and his 13 year old furbaby Oreo.
