Earlene McDonald, born Earlene Douthitt in 1939, was one of the few true natives of Arizona. Earlene met Mac at a young age and they married in 1959. Earlene was a devoted mother to her two children Brian and Heather, and she also took care of many other neighborhood children when her kids were small. When her children grew up, she became a realtor. Her love of real estate and people then led her to be an amazing landlord. Unlike her husband, she held onto working like a wild cat. Although they did travel extensively and had amazing adventures together with friends, she worked until a few years before her death. Earlene never knew a stranger. She had an amazing memory for names and faces because she genuinely cared about people. She loved her neighborhood and was very involved. She took in strays her whole life. She fought passionately for what she believed in. She will be missed by many. She is survived by her son Brian and daughter-in-law Leda with their twins Jayce and Elaina. She is survived also by her daughter Heather and son-in law Will with their two kids Rebecca and Megan.

Found out via our neighborhood newsletter today that we lost “the matriarch of our hood” this month. We had the privilege of knowing her as she walked through the hood since we moved here in 2006 and would stop to chat. Sometimes having a glass of wine and hanging out by the fire, other times “twisting” our arms to volunteer for the annual home tour. All encounters we enjoyed and now treasured. She was/is a one of a kind personality and we are certainly better for knowing her. RIP Earlene! You will be dearly missed!

I'll sure miss Earlene, I met her thought my best friend Vickie, who was a dear family friend.
I always looked forward to seeing her spunky self, at the F.Q. Story home tour every year. She always had a kind word and a smile on her face even when not feeling well!
Rest in peace, my friend.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Family.

How fortunate I was to know and love Earlene McDonald. She was the most generous person I have ever encountered. When my family moved to Texas, we stayed in touch by phone. She was a breath of fresh air. Earlene brightened my life. I loved her and always will.
Rest In Peace, sweet friend!

Earlene did more in a day than most of us do in a week. She worked hard, had great ideas, helped whomever needed it, and laughed -- I'll always remember her smile and laugh! What an amazing person. Knowing her and Mac is a privilege I treasure.

Earlene was a very good friend to both of us. Dick knew her in grade school. I met her when we were in the hospital and she introduced Dick and I. We will truly miss her, as we have Mac. But as many have said, they are together once again.

Earlene, my dearest friend, I cannot believe I will never hear your voice again. We loved you so, but now your have joined your beloved Mac, and time will never separate the two of you again.
I will miss you Earlene, your always cheerful greeting, our conversations, our shared memories. Our friendship spans many decades, our good times were the best of times. Your memory will live on in my heart. I will cherish thoughts of you until we meet again in heaven's garden.
To Heather and Brian,
Your mother was one of a kind, a loving mother and grandmother. She always wanted the best for you, and she always did her best to give you both a great start in life. May our loving God comfort you and give you peace. You were the most fortunate, you had great parents.
