

"Gene" Warner 81, passed away peacefully with his wife of 61 years, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, other family members and friends by his side. He joined the Navy at 17. A Veteran of two foreign wars, he retired after 20 years as a Chief Commissaryman. He then joined the Phoenix Police Department and retired after 20 years. Gene loved his family. He loved his country and he loved the Navy. He was an active member of the Fleet Reserve Association and Knights of Columbus. His passion was reading anything related to history, cowboys and the west. He belonged to the Arizona Radio Control Society and the 1/8th Air Force and was Avid at flying R/C airplanes. He was a great storyteller and the Best cook. His family loved to visit because he was always quick with a smile, a story and a joke. He is survived by his wife, Mary Laverne, sons Everett (Judie), Karl "Bud" (Brenda), Edgar "Gene" III (Kathy), 7 grandchildren , 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, his brother, Karl "Lil" Woolsey, and his sister, Terry Bailey. He was a great public servant and will be sorely missed by all. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2010 from 10:00A.M. to 12:00P.M. with a funeral service beginning at 12:00P.M. at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary, 719 North 27th Avenue in Phoenix.
