Edna Marie (Banister) Floyd of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on September 8, 2024 at the age of 87. Edna was born on September 12, 1935 in Chatham, Louisiana. She is the daughter of JT and Eula (Hatten) Bannister. She spent most of her adult life after serving in the Air Force with top-secret clearance, in ministry service with her husband, Thomas David Floyd, pastoring in the Nazarene denomination.
Her life was one full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. It was a full testament to these virtues every single day. Throw in a little feisty, a spunky sense of humor and a very sharp mind and we mostly have a full picture.
Edna’s quiet leadership served as a model to her family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and those who knew her. We have so much gratitude in our hearts for her.
She would never consider herself a leader but that’s what made her the BEST leader. She led by example in her daily living. By her words AND her actions.
Edna’s generous and natural ability to love in all things was and is remarkable. Her family has been so blessed to be on the receiving end of her ever kindness. Always extending forgiveness and mercy whether warranted or not.
She was the best mom to Sharon and Kimberly. Though not biological, they would argue that her love superseded any physiology because of its purity and fierceness. She nurtured them, disciplined them, encouraged them, supported them and in every way, loved and protected them. She did the same for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She raised her daughters to love and honor their biological parents teaching them that they were loved by them enough so to trust her with their babies. It’s such an honor for your girls to call you mom. You were so selfless.
Her family celebrates her heavenly reunion with her husband Tom. They are so excited she has been fully restored and that they are celebrating together with other family and friends.
The family remains grateful for your life and the legacy you and dad built to lead future generations to impact the world for Jesus. Your ministry years have changed eternity for so many. Your contribution was intact until you both breathed your final breaths here on earth.
We pray she is not “resting in peace” but instead continuing to celebrate and rejoice for eternity. Full of new life as she walks on golden streets!
We know we will see you again so we look forward to our own reunion.
Edna lived a full and meaningful life. Nearly 88 years.
