I first met Ed in the late 1970s, when he was covering the Bergen County Courthouse for The Record. I was a newbie reporter for The Herald News, and Ed showed me the ropes. He was my mentor. He was a great friend who would do anything for you, wise and kind. There are not a lot of guys like Ed, at least not in the newspaper business. He hosted great pool parties at his house in Maywood, and I visited him several times in his pretty home out in the desert.
I know he helped a lot of people, and he sure helped me. RIP Ed. A friend's mom always says that only God's chosen die peacefully in their sleep. Obviously, you were one of God's chosen. Linda

You were my mentor, my friend, my confidant, my Dad by choice. I am a loss for words, for once in my life. This past three and a half weeks, well I just feel like someone who has been a big part of my life is just gone. Well ofcourse you are gone, but I just don't want to accept that. NBA playoffs are on and it feels like we should be watching them. Well I will remember all the times we spent together, and words can't tell you how much you mean to me and Roxi and Lex. God brought you into my life, oh what a gift. You were first a tutor to me on the steps and quickly became my friend, then shortly after that you became part of my family. You will never be forgotten. I keep wondering if Gregor was with you when you passed. I kept asking him for two years to protect you and be with you. I guess I will find all that out when I meet you all on the other side. I love you, and terribly miss you. My head is spinning because there is so much I want to say, that I am rambling. Please continue to watch over me. You know I can use all the help I can get, LOL. Well I know the past few years you couldn't get out much, I loved talking to you for hours, watching sports and movies. Up until the day you left the house, we had a real nice day. Don't you worry I will keep you in tune to whats going on with our lives, you have not gotten rid of me, LOL. I will be talking to you. Good Nite, love, Maria

This memorial site is a beautiful tribute to a wonderful man, and friend. Thank you for all your efforts, definitely a "job well done." Ed the professional reporter would be quite proud.

We also appreciate being included in this tribute by placing a group picture we took together with Ed at Rudy's Restaurant in Hackensack NJ to enjoy old memories of working at the Record newspaper.

FYI in case we may ever meet here or in Heaven the following are the names of those in the group shot Left to right standing: Bill Dobbins, Ed Schwartz, Joe Hackett, Ed Flynn, Mary Jo Hackett, Kirby Conlin. Sitting left to right Loretta Schwartz, Denise Conlin and Judy Dobbins.

With very, very many Fond Memories, Thank you Ed.
