

Ed was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on October 20th, 1936 to Max and Mary Elizabeth Ray. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Colorado College and moved to Phoenix in 1959. Ed served 7 years in the Army Reserves, obtaining the rank of Captain. He went on to a successful career with the Ray Lumber Company in Phoenix, and later worked at the Palo Verde Nuclear Plant. Ed married his college sweetheart in 1957 and they had three children. Ed is survived by his wife of 56 years Inge, daughter Teresa and son Tim, daughter-in-law Tyson, his sister Carolyn and his granddaughter Alexis. Ed and Inge lost their eldest son Dan in 2010. Ed was a wonderful father and participated fully in his children's sporting and scouting activities. He encouraged all family members to be independent and follow their diverse ambitions, while providing valuable guidance and support. Ed loved to travel. He and Inge adventured through all 50 states and took numerous trips abroad. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and was a fan of the Arizona Cardinals, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Diamondbacks. He loved reading throughout his life, and in his later years enjoyed golf and cooking. He was a caring and loving husband, father, brother and friend, and will be forever missed by all who knew him. A visitation (4-6pm) and funeral (6pm) will be held at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary at 710 W. Bethany Home Road on Saturday, August 30th.
